About the report
Approximately sixty percent of exporters in Kyrgyzstan face major challenges related to deficient testing and certification facilities in the country. Inadequate export quality infrastructure in Kyrgyzstan is a key obstacle.
The lack of Kyrgyz accredited laboratories to perform the necessary testing and certification makes compliance with technical requirements difficult – especially those of the Eurasian Economic Union and the European Union.
The report, Kyrgyzstan: Company Perspectives. An ITC Series on Non-Tariff Measures, recommends upgrading domestic infrastructure, enforcing quality compliance, streamlining procedures and diversifying export portfolio to improve the competitiveness of small businesses. It incorporates views and recommendations from the private sector, public agencies and experts.
